Over the past decade, the Cathay Pacific Hong
Kong International Races has become one of the most important stops
for horsemen and owners from all across the globe. Now recognised as
the 'Turf World Championships', the Hong Kong International Races offer
some of the world's richest prize-money at the stunning Sha Tin Racecourse.
Four international Group 1 events are featured:
the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup (2000m), the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong
Vase (2400m), the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Mile (1600m) and the Cathay
Pacific Hong Kong Sprint (1000m). The Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International
Races is the largest international sporting event staged in Hong Kong,
with HK$56 million in prize money on offer. This year, it will take
place on 11 December.
The Cathay
Pacific Hong Kong International Races is one of the finest race meetings
on the calendar for many reasons, not the least of which is having the
honour of hosting the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup as the final leg
of the 2005 World Racing Championships.
